Inauguration of SAARC Agriculture Centre Book Corner at Habiganj Agricultural University
The SAARC Agriculture Centre Book Corner has been inaugurated at the central library of Habiganj Agricultural University. The book corner was inaugurated on Sunday (23 November) at 12:00 PM by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed.
Present at the event were Director of the SAARC Agriculture Centre Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid; Senior Program Specialist (Livestock) Dr. Md. Younus Ali; Senior Program Specialist (Crops) Dr. Sikander Khan Tanveer; Senior Program Specialist (NRM) Dr. Raja Ullah Khan; Senior Program Officer Md. Abul Bashar; IT Manager Md. Aminul Islam Asif; Acting Librarian of Habiganj Agricultural University Iftikhar Ahmed Fagun; along with faculties, officials and students from different departments of the university.
Various agriculture-related publications from the SAARC Agriculture Centre were handed over to the university library. Speaking as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed said that the SAARC Agriculture Centre Book Corner will play an important role in enhancing opportunities for world-class agricultural knowledge and research for the students of Habiganj Agricultural University. He later added that the possibilities created through regional cooperation in innovation, technology and the exchange of modern agricultural knowledge will be further strengthened through this book corner. He expressed confidence that agricultural publications, research reports and policy documents from SAARC member countries will open new avenues for students, researchers and teachers. Director Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid gave a presentation on the activities of the SAARC Agriculture Centre.
During the inauguration ceremony, discussions were held on signing a mutual Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the SAARC Agriculture Centre and Habiganj Agricultural University in the near future.
