Great Victory Day observed with due dignity at Habiganj Agricultural University
Habiganj Agricultural University observed the Great Victory Day on Tuesday (16 December) with due dignity through a series of day-long programs. Victory Day is a landmark achievement in the nation’s history. Remembering the immense sacrifices of the Liberation War, the martyrs, the oppressed, and the courage of the freedom fighters, the university community came together to pay tribute and uphold the spirit of the great victory.
The observance began at dawn with the hoisting of the national flag on the university campus, marking the start of the day earnestly and respectfully. At 9:00 AM, with a Victory Rally in front of the university’s administrative building. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed attended as the chief guest and led the rally. Members of the Victory Day Celebration Committee, heads of various departments, along with teachers, students, officers and staff, participated in the procession. After parading around the campus, the rally concluded at the Shaheed Minar of the temporary campus, where the Vice-Chancellor, along with members of the university family, placed floral wreaths to pay homage to the martyrs. On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor’s message was broadcast among those present.
Later, a discussion meeting was organized to recall the history of the Liberation War and to remember the heroic martyrs. Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor said that the commitment on Victory Day should be to rise above all divisions and strengthen national unity to build a well-governed, fair and prosperous Bangladesh. He also stressed the importance of remaining united in upholding justice, truth and human rights, and working together to bring positive and sustainable change in the Habiganj Agricultural University and the society. The day’s programs concluded with an annual dinner at 6:30 PM. Through these observances, Habiganj Agricultural University paid deep respect to the spirit of the Liberation War and the values of Victory Day.
