As part of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s initiative “25 Crore Tree

2026 in continuation of the nationwide tree plantation and sapling distribution campaign.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed, attended the
program as the chief guest and inaugurated the tree plantation activities. In his speech, he said,
“Planting trees is not only essential for environmental protection, but it is also an investment for
our future generations. Everyone should come forward to plant at least one tree.”
The main objective of the program, held on the university campus, is to maintain ecological
balance, combat the adverse effects of climate change, and ensure a sustainable future through
greenery.
Under the Tree Plantation Program 2026, a total of 25 saplings of 17 different species-including
Krishnachura, Mahogany, Jackfruit, Amra, Jamun, Mango, Olive, Lotkon, Guava, Arjun, Wood
Almond and Wax Apple-were planted.
Students, teachers, and officers of the university actively participated in the program. The
university authorities expressed hope that such initiatives will make the campus greener, more
aesthetic, and more livable, and they also pledged to continue such environmentally friendly
activities in the future.
