Workshop held at Habiganj Agricultural University on alignment of Modular Curriculum and Syllabus with Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) standards 

A two-day workshop titled “Alignment of Modular Curriculum and Syllabus of Habiganj Agricultural University with Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) Standards” was held at Habiganj Agricultural University on Saturday (June 13), with the first day’s session taking place. 

The inaugural session began at 10:00 a.m. yesterday at the university’s Academic Building-2. The session was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed, while the Chief Guest was Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Masuma Habib. Also present was Dr. Mohammad Aminul Islam, Assistant Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university. Teachers from various faculties and relevant stakeholders participated in the workshop. 

The first day of the program included the inaugural session as well as two technical sessions. The first session featured Professor Dr. Shaikh Shamin Hasan from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Gazipur Agricultural University, as the special speaker. The second session featured Professor Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman Sarker from the Department of Agricultural Extension Education, Bangladesh Agricultural University, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Sayadur Rahaman from the Department of Chemistry, Comilla University, as special speakers. 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed said that improving the quality of higher education is highly important in the current global context. He stated that the alignment of the Modular Curriculum and Syllabus with the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) would help enhance students’ skills and ensure international-standard education. He further emphasized the need to make academic activities more practical, outcome-based, and employment-oriented through collective efforts. He also expressed gratitude to the organizing committee and wished the success of the workshop. 

The Chief Guest stated that the BNQF plays a very important role in improving the quality of higher education and ensuring alignment with international standards. She also called for further strengthening of competency-based and outcome-based education systems so that students can acquire practical knowledge and job-relevant skills. 

Participants discussed in detail the alignment of academic programs with the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), including Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum development and accreditation processes, the adaptation and implementation of BNQF, and curriculum mapping for aligning Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) in higher education institutions. 

The main objective of the workshop was to align the university’s academic programs with the BNQF, implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE), develop learning outcome-based curricula, ensure quality education through curriculum mapping, and prepare for accreditation processes. 

Participants expressed hope that such initiatives would play an important role in making the university’s academic activities more aligned with international standards.
