Cultural Competitions Held at Habiganj Agricultural University on the Occasion of Nazrul Year
Various cultural competitions were held at Habiganj Agricultural University (HAU) on Sunday (September 13) at a classroom of the Faculty of Fisheries as part of the programmes organized to mark Nazrul Year. The competitions were arranged under the initiative of the Cultural Sub-Committee.
Students from different academic years of the Faculties of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources Science of the university participated spontaneously in the competitions. The events were organized with the aim of promoting students’ creativity and cultural talents and strengthening their engagement with the literature and culture of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The competitions included impromptu speech, recitation of Nazrul’s poetry, Nazrul Sangeet, solo dance based on Nazrul Sangeet, and solo acting based on Nazrul’s literature. The enthusiastic participation of the students turned the entire programme into a festive and vibrant occasion.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Lecturer Dr. Jakaria Chowdhury Onik, Assistant Student Affairs Adviser and Assistant Controller of Examinations (In-Charge). The competitions were conducted by Lecturer DR. Sharmin Sultana Royal, a teacher of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources Science.
Among others, Assistant Professor Dr. Amaily Akter, Convener of the Cultural Sub-Committee and Associate Director of HAU Research System (HAURES), Lecturer DR. Salauddin Yousup, Member Secretary of the committee and Assistant Director (In-Charge) of the Physical Education Section, other members of the committee, and Lecturer Tukir Ahamed, Assistant Proctor of the university, were present at the event.
The organizers expressed hope that the competitions held on the occasion of Nazrul Year would not only contribute to developing the creativity and cultural talents of the students but also play an important role in deepening their understanding of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s literature, music, ideals of equality and humanity, and his spirit of communal harmony and secularism.
